What Hannah reminds me of every day

Crave spiritual milk

Every morning Hannah wakes up crying for food. It's no wonder because she usually goes 6 to 8 hours without eating during the night when usually she only goes every 2 to 3 hours between meals during the day. So when she wakes up screaming, demanding food, it reminds me of 1 Peter 2:2-3:

Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.

My desire for the Lord and His Word should be more intense than Hannah's desire for milk in the morning.

Should you upgrade to Snow Leopard?

Mac-os-x-snow-leopard

A friend messaged me on Facebook asking what I thought of Mac OS X's latest update, Snow Leopard, version 10.6., and if it was worth upgrading. Here's my response:

Umm... for $29, it's worth the upgrade. I definitely like the new Expose features, the ability to see wifi signal strength in the tray, being able to sync iCal with Google Cal, sync Google Contacts with Address Book, and since I do a lot with video, the new QuickTime is pretty handy, too.

I have experienced some issues, though, mostly with Adobe products like Photoshop and After Effects. Maybe it's because I'm running older versions of the software (too expensive to upgrade!), but they tend to crash pretty randomly and, of course, at the most inopportune times.

Apple said 10.6 would free up about 7 GB of space, too, which is about right for my iMac, but on my Macbook Pro, it freed up about 11 or 12 GB, which is great because I'm always struggling for disk space on this 200 GB HD.

Overall, the system feels a bit snappier, too. I don't notice it too much on my iMac because it's already a jacked up beast (3.something GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB memory), but it made a noticeable difference on my Macbook Pro (2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB memory). Shuts down, starts up, and wakes up quicker and seems to be more responsive overall.

Except for the random crash issues, it was worth upgrading for me. They already came out with 10.6.1 update, but that didn't seem to address the crashing issues, but again, it's only Photoshop and After Effects that seem to have that problem for me.

Oh, I had to update a couple other programs on my computers, too, specifically Skype, Covenant Eyes, and Quicksilver, in order to work properly with 10.6.

A new way to play volleyball at youth group

Volleyball

We did this tonight with our high school group. Play regular volleyball, but hang sheets over the net so neither team can see when or where the ball is coming from until it's almost too late to react! So much fun! lol

Then we took the sheets off the net and played a regular game of catching and tossing the volleyball back and forth with each team around their sheet, holding on to the edges. Fun times!
