Muslim teen girl converts to Christianity and receives death threat from family
I watched this teen girl's testimony on YouTube and enjoyed her enthusiasm and passion for the Lord. It was recorded earlier this summer.
Then I watched this video and realized that the fears she mentioned in her testimony started becoming a reality around August.
Here's a CBN news report that goes into more detail.
A little further research online indicates that the trial is scheduled for October 27 in Ohio, although she currently lives with foster parents in Florida. She also apparently has received death threats from Muslim groups in other countries, especially Italy.
This girl surely inspires me. If she's willing to stand up against her family in Jesus name when renouncing Him could provide safety and make all this go away, I have no excuse for not bringing God up in conversations. This is pretty cool to see, especially from a 17 year old.
My youth group is in the middle of a 5 week series on evangelism. Tonight we talked about sharing our "faith stories" (testimonies) and I used these videos tonight and others to give examples of what a testimony is and about sharing it even when we're afraid of "persecution." But I tell you what, we have such a weak view of persecution compared to Rifqa Bary. We are sometimes way too comfortable and passive in the USA.
